Research Articles

Research articles must make a substantial contribution to knowledge and advance understanding of their subject matter, as the result of an original and unpublished investigation with a solid theoretical and methodological base. Research articles should be no more than 40 pages in length.

All submissions are initially assessed by the director or a member of the Editorial Board, who verifies if the submission fits the scope of the journal and meets the standards expected in an academic publication. Once the submission passes this first filter, it is sent to two anonymous reviewers (see ‘Peer Review Process’ below). The review process is expected to take between six and twelve weeks (see ‘Ethical Guidelines’ ). Once a manuscript is accepted, the director and the Editorial board decide, with the authorization of the author, whether it should be published as a research article or as a research note.

Note

Research notes are shorter than research articles both in extension and in scope. They usually discuss an idea, advance an analysis, describe a new methodology, or point to novel empirical data of potential theoretical interest. We also welcome overview articles that describe the state-of-the-art in the studies of under-represented languages. Contributions in this section should be no more than 20 pages in length (35 000 words).
